Schotel - Dutch artist family: father, Johannes Christian (November, 11, 1787 - December, 21, 1838) and his son Petrus Johannes (November, 11, 1808 - July, 23, 1865). Johannes Christian was a well-known author of marine paintings, etchings and lithographs. Petrus Johannes was famous as naval artist, engraver and lithographer, an expert on the technology and history of ship-building. Comparing to his father's his own style of painting was more dramatic and gloomy and less perfect from the technical point of view.
