Charles-Auguste-Corneille De Groux (August, 4, 1825 - March, 30, 1870) - a Belgian painter and etcher most distinguished for his masterful composition and depictions of historical subjects. He studied under the tutorship of F-J Navez. Father of Henri de Groux (1866-1930), famous Belgian painter, who was in a severe confrontation with van Gogh at the end of the century. Among Charles de Groux's most famous works are the following: "At the Pawnbrokers", "The blind", "Regrets".
